J S BACH Organ
Trio Sonatas
Volume II (Sonatas II & IV), RG118
Score and parts €21.00
Bach's
great Trios for the Organ were compiled, according to Forkel, "for
his oldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann, with which he had to prepare
himself to be the great organist which he later became. One cannot
praise their beauty enough".
In the absence of any surviving pieces for the classic trio sonata
combination, and in view of persuasive evidence that these sonatas are
themselves largely arrangements of ealier works, RG
Editions presents a
new transcription
of these magnificent pieces, as recorded by London
Baroque in their recent much
acclaimed recording for BIS.
In this, volume II of a three volume set, Sonatas II and IV are
presented in a transcription for the slightly unusual combination of
violin, viola and continuo -- as suggested by the tessitura of the
originals.
